Northern Lights Adventure in Alta

Chasing the Northern Lights is a unique, memorable experience. However, a considerable part of the experience is knowing how, where, and most importantly, when to look for it. On this exhilarating tour with Æventyr, professional guides will accompany you and take you to the best viewing spots in the area, depending on the weather.

The tour begins at our Explorer store in Alta city centre, where you get acquainted with your guide for the night and suit up in thermals if you haven’t already. There, you will receive a brief lecture about the occurrence of the Northern Lights.

After completing these formalities and checking the weather forecast for the night, you will set off on a four-wheel drive to the chosen location. The locations vary night to night depending on the weather conditions and the Northern Lights forecast.

Once you arrive at the location, you spend a couple of hours chasing the lights until you see them dancing in the night sky. When you do, take a moment and soak in the views- for this is a memory you will treasure forever. Snap a few shots to commemorate this moment, all while your guide tells you stories about local history or the Aurora.

Have a mug of piping hot coffee or tea with a snack while you gaze at the gripping lights overhead before heading back to the Explore Store and calling an end to the lovely trip. Please note that viewing the Northern Lights is not guaranteed as it depends entirely on weather conditions, but a memorable and fun night is promised!

You can rent a camera tripod and warm overalls if required. You are also encouraged to dress in warm apparel to make the night as comfortable as possible for you.
