Embark on an unforgettable snowmobile and ice fishing adventure through the Arctic wilderness near Alta. This guided tour by Æventyr offers an exhilarating experience, starting with a scenic snowmobile ride through snow-covered forests, eventually leading to expansive mountain plateaus with panoramic views. Throughout the journey, immerse yourself in the tranquil beauty of untouched nature, far away from the hustle of everyday life.
The tour begins at 09:30, with a pickup at Æventyr Adventure Store in Alta's city center. From there, a 25 km drive leads to the historic Gargia Lodge. At 10:00, upon arrival, visitors will receive warm thermal suits, balaclavas, gloves, and boots before setting out on the snowmobile adventure. After a short safety briefing at 10:30, the snowmobile ride begins, taking guests through spectacular landscapes with stops at breathtaking viewpoints. At 11:30, a stop at Bæskades offers panoramic views of Finnmarksvidda before heading to the destination, Mostajàvri, a secluded lake perfect for ice fishing.
After arriving at Mostajàvri, a warm lunch featuring the traditional Bidos stew will be served, followed by ice fishing. If lucky, a fresh Arctic fish like trout or char can be caught and cooked over the fire, adding to the Arctic experience. The tour wraps up with a return to Gargia Lodge at 15:00 and a drop-off in the city center around 16:00.
Single Driver Add-On available for solo snowmobile driving. Please inform of any allergies at least 24 hours before departure. This activity is not recommended for individuals with back problems or pregnancy. Bring woolen underlayer and socks (available to borrow if needed), warm clothing and shoes, sunglasses, and you driving license.
A valid B class driver’s license is required to drive a snowmobile, and must be presented for verification.
Passengers must be at least 12 years old.
