Step into the world of Sámi reindeer herding on Salen Mountain in Hammerfest. This guided tour brings you to an authentic reindeer camp, where you meet the herd in a calm and respectful setting and learn about daily life from a Sámi guide.
During the experience, you feed reindeer by hand, hear about their behavior, seasonal movements and the role of reindeer herding in Sámi culture, and enjoy time for questions and photos. This is a genuine cultural encounter based on real life with reindeer — not a staged performance.
After time with the herd, you gather inside a traditional lavvu with fire and seating. Here, your guide shares personal stories, cultural knowledge and joik, creating a warm and memorable Arctic experience for guests of all ages.
